Cha- Cha- Cha- Changes

Okay, now try and get that song out you of your head!  Life is full of changes and sometimes you simply can’t fight it. It’s with a heavy heart that I’m announcing I’m no longer going to be selling shoes.

We're Closing

Happy Shoe Day is going back to its original glory!  Back to where I search for fabulous shoes and show off how a pair of shoes can complete an outfit.

What does that mean for the Happy Shoe Day Shoe Store?  Shoes won’t be available for sale on the site.  Being a full-time mom, working part time and starting my own consulting firm I simply don’t have the time and energy to also own an online shoe store.  Its been a hard decision to close this part of Happy Shoe Day but its what is best for my family and my sanity.

Searching for a positive in all of this, I’m looking forward to going into a shoe store and shopping!!!  Instead of checking out their inventory and wondering how my little shop can keep up.  Also, I no longer will feel guilty buying shoes when I have a basement full of shoes.  Not sure our bank account is happy about that part.

Happy Shoe Day, the blog, isn’t going anywhere.  I’ll be posting more about trends, fabulous finds and even featuring some baby shoes too.

Everything Must Go!

Where do we go from here?!  Well, I need ALL of the shoes that are in my basement to GET OUT!  I’ve updated the shop to the lowest prices possible.  What you see is what you get… all available sizes are there.  Minnesota peeps: check out the shop and then e-mail (or text) me with your order.  This way I can just drop them off and we don’t have to worry about shipping.

I want to thank everyone for supporting this venture.  What a dream come true to have owned my own shoe store.  I’m sad to see the shoes go but excited to see what the future holds.

Happy Shoe Day CLosing Party

And because I always love a reason to shop, see friends and enjoy a class of bubbly I’m going to have my final shoe party.  Come to the Happy Shoe Day Headquarters and shop the rest of the inventory.  The Style Trolley will be here to help complete the outfits with beautiful pieces.

Details: Sunday, July 23rd from 2-6 pm. 4860 Highcrest Dr, Excelsior, MN.  E-mail me at if you’re interested in stopping by.  Would love to see you!

Have a happy shoe day!

3 Different Occasions, 1 Pair of Shoes

A pair of glitter pumps is all you need to get through the Holiday season!

Shoes take 2

Doesn’t matter the Holiday party you’re going to, these pumps are perfect.  Here are 3 outfits from casual to dressy that’ll help give your look some sparkle.

A Night Out:

Outfit 1

Let’s start with casual! I went with my go-to skinny jeans, these are not only comfortable but the dark wash jeans always helps make your shoes pop.  Not that these pumps need much help!

Outfit one bottom

I wanted to bring in the same gold tone from the shoes to tie in the gold theme for the look.  The sweater I got from Len at Ridgedale years ago and I’m still obsessed with it.  I love a staple sweater that you don’t get sick of.  Then to pull the rest of the look together and create a sassy look I added this faux fur vest.

Outfit 1 top

All Business

Outfit 2

Next party it’s all about the business attire!  I started with a pencil skirt from Primp Boutique.  This skirt shows off your figure and lengthens your legs beautifully. Then to pair it with these pumps you’ll have the illusion that your legs go on for days even if you’re not built like super model.

outfit 2 bottoms

To keep the classiness of the look I paired it with a Cabi Clothing black & white tank.  This tank is still appropriate to wear without the blazer just in case it gets a little warm.  The blazer is from H & M and the peplum adds such a simple and classic detail to the look.

Outfit 2 top

The Classic:

Outfit 3

I have to say that I’m a huge fan of color when it comes to parties.  Everyone else is wearing black but not me,  I’m going to be the pop of color in the group.  This pink dress is a staple for me!  I got it years ago at Old Navy and it’s like wearing a blanket but looks much better.  It’s one of the most comfortable dresses I own.  I think that’s important, to not only look good but also feel good in what you’re wearing! Especially if it’s a night full of mingling.

Outfit 3 necklace

Outfit 3 belt

I let the dress be center stage and then accessorized with the pumps, necklace & belt with bow detail. You’ll be turning heads in an outfit like this.

I would be honored if you wore Happy Shoe Day pumps to your Holiday party!  They’re $32 just click here.

The happiest of holidays to you and hope you’re having a happy shoe day!

One Outfit 4 Ways

The favorite accessory I own are my shoes.  I know, you’re not shocked by this.  But to prove that all you need is a great pair of shoes to change an outfit up I took a simple outfit and simply changed out the shoes (and scarf).

Original Outfit:

Original Outfit

I took a white top, blazer and a pair of skinny black pants and created 4 different outfits.

Ballet Flats

First up, we’re going more casual for this one.  I used a graphic scarf to brighten the look and then added a pair of flats {$22} to complete the look.  These are primarily black but the textured flats brighten the look up. There is also blue, silver and white within the flat.  Although this look is casual the shoes keep it bright!

Burgundy BootiesNext, let’s add a little bootie {$25}!  Change out the scarf for a floral one that had the same burgundy color in it as the booties.  Wine colors are perfect for this time of year. Even though these are flats the fact that they are booties add some extra sass which is my goal a lot of times.

Wedge Booties

Now for a little height!  We’re going tan for the accent color here.  I added wedge booties {$35} and paired it with a pink leopard print scarf. A wedge shoe is perfect when you have to be dressed up all day but you don’t love heels.

Black and tan booites

Last, but not least! I’m adding a little edge to this look. Creating the sleek look by adding a black knit scarf with the blank and tan booties {$45}.  These booties add an edge to any outfit.  The thicker heel creating a more comfortable fit so you can wear them all day without your feet hurting.

I hope this inspired you to use your shoes more as accessories!

As always have a Happy Shoe Day!

Indulge in Good Things… Especially in The Fall!

I have a confession! I’m ready for the temperatures to fall so I can grab my boots and sweaters out of storage and start rocking them on a consistent basis.  Normally I’m not in such a rush for fall/winter but this year I went to the Indulge in Good Things Fall Fashion Show in White Bear Lake and I got fall fever!

The show got kicked off with a cocktail hour; my friend Sara (creator of the Pretty Intellectual) and I enjoyed a glass of wine while looking at some of our favorite fashion quotes.  How do you not take a picture in front of this?

Now It’s time to sit back and enjoy the show!

We were all welcomed by the owner of Good Things, Tyler!  He not only has great style but also an infectious personality.  He must get it from his mother!  I was lucky enough to sit next to his mom, Sharon, who started the business in 1973.  Sharon is an absolute blast and I love her sassy style!

The host for the event was the one and only Alexis Thompson from myTalk 107.1  who did a great job!  You could tell how much she loves these places and just had a blast being a part of the event.

Okay, Okay… let’s see the fashion!

There were a lot of men’s wear inspired looks on the runway and I have to say I’m intrigued.  I’m more and more getting into this trend and the way they styled these looks now I’m hooked.

And, what sealed the deal for me? The booties on this look.  I love the entire look but the little bit of bling on the bootie added the perfect touch. And these booties walked by me more than once!  They’re so versatile.

And another pair of boots that caught my eye, these beautiful brown leather boots.  Just imagine the outfits you could pairs these with! A weekend staple for sure.

When this look came out I remember saying LOVE!  It’s always a good reminder that your pants can be your wow factor.  Keeping the top simple but bringing it to life with that beautiful color red.

For me, when I’m working out I also like to look good doing it.  That’s half the fun right? These woman came out and not only looked good but did some amazing yoga moves on a runway. Can’t say I’ve ever seen that before.  Not sure what I was more impressed with, the outfits or the moves!

Now for my favorite look of the night! The look that made me want the snow to start flying… don’t get mad!

The layering for this look is perfection.  The bare leg is key to keep things balanced.  The suede vest could work for so many looks and that dress! The dress looks so comfy. Each peace works together but I can see wearing each peace differently too. I have literally not been able to stop thinking about this look!

Can’t forget about the guys!  Each one wore a simple black top and jeans and looked good doing it.  They had so much fun strutting down the cat walk.  Okay, maybe they didn’t strut, they danced!  It was so great that each model was not a paid model but instead real woman (or man) from the community.

All in all, this was a great night that had me wanting more fall fashions.

Don’t worry you didn’t miss out on all the fun.

If you haven’t been to this boutique I urge you to go.  It’s filled with some really beautiful clothing plus down town White Bear Lake is adorable.  I’ve already told my husband that I want to spend a Saturday there for lunch and shopping! Stay tuned for that trip!

I’m going to leave you with this picture of Sara and myself wearing our new sunglasses that we got in our swag bags!

1 Pair of Jeans = 3 Comfy Weekend Outfits

It’s late August and the fall crisp is starting to sneak into the air.  The Minnesota State Fair is just around the corner and that is the unofficial sign that the summer of 2015 is winding down.  Although I’m not ready to put my summer clothes away, I am ready for the transitional time between summer and fall.

One of my favorite places to shop is The Style Trolley!  This isn’t your average boutique… it’s a boutique on wheels!

style trolley 2

This fashion truck has just loaded its latest shipment and it’s stock full of comfy and fashionable fall clothes. Between what Mariah, the owner, has in her truck and what I have in my closet already I created 3 comfy outfits perfect for the weekend. Want to buy these looks right now?  You can also shop online.

Outfit 1: Perfect for a Saturday filled with shopping and maybe even lunch with friends.

All summer long you’ve seen graphic tee’s. How about a graphic sweatshirt?!

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

Pairing this comfy (and extremely soft) sweatshirt with a printed scarf from Primp.  And the jeans I’m using for this entire post are from H&M. To finish the look off add knee high boots from Justfab.

Outfit 2: Date night wearing a kimono!  You saw it this summer and you’ll see it more this fall.

Outfit 7

YOU CAN PAIR THIS VERY COLORFUL ONE WITH ANYTHING You can pair This very colorful one you can pair with anything.  I enjoy classic fall colors when it comes to styling. I paired it with an orange tank top to bring out the the orange in the kimono.

Outfit 7 shoes

With a beautiful top and using the tank top to bring out the colors I wanted the rest of the outfit to be pretty simple.  So, again I just used my skinny jeans from H&M and then using my tan western inspired boots to complete the look.

Outfit 3: The Cozy Sunday Look

When it comes to fall it’s all about layering and being comfy.

Outfit 2

And what is more comfy than a blanket scarf? Not much! I turned this one into a cape. This is the perfect accessory for late summer nights.  I played off the colors in the scarf to brighten the look up.

Outfit 2 Jewelry

Adding a yellow tank from Target to create a nice silhouette for you and added mint earring along with the brown and gold necklace.

Outfit 2 shoes

Then finally a pair of boots I got last fall from JustFab to anchor the look.

Bonus Outfit!!  It’s time to put those jeans away and take out your white pants.

Outfit 6

That’s right! We’re taking a sweatshirt and dressing it up for work… perfect for a Monday.  I love the detail not only around the neck but carrying the same style around the wrist.

Outfit 6 shoes

And then let’s add some more bling to this outfit with my bedazzled flats to finish the look off.

Did you enjoy these looks?  Let me know which one is your favorite in the comments below.

I hope you enjoy your fall and have happy shoe day!

Shoe Report: 4/6/15 – 4/10/15

What a week of crappy weather, so I worked hard to style clothes that would brighten up the gloomy days. I would say some days are better than others.  Also, I’m trying something new with just pictures of the out and shoes together.  Let me know what you think.

Monday, April 6th:

Shoes: I love these blue shoes.  They’re a great way to add a pop of color with out going over the top.  Also, if you have blue accents in any of your clothes these will bring them out for sure.  I got these beautiful blue shoes at Opitz Outlet, this is the place to go and my favorite part is their clearance section.

Outfit: I’m calling the outfit 50 Shades of blue! Between the blue jeans, blue shirt and blue shoes.  The jeans are my Express ones that I got from Arc’s Value Village.  Let me tell you, if you don’t have a ton of time heading there with a personal stylist appointment is the way to shop!  You don’t spend too much money and you save time; that’s a win win!  The shirt, I believe, is from Nordstrom… it was a gift from my mother-in-law.  I added orange earring that I got from Target just so it was so blue.

Tuesday, April 7th:

Shoes: These classic pumps are just beautiful, I always get so many compliments when I wear them.  These are from my favorite place to buy shoes

Outfit: Okay, since outside isn’t screaming spring I thought I could scream spring with my outfit.  The dress is from Lularoe and it is so fun and comfortable.  I love that this dress has so much character that you don’t need to add too much more.  Of course, I want to take it to the next level. The scarf and tights are from Target along with the leopard print belt.  Since I’ve challenged myself to mix prints I’m loving it!

Wednesday, April 8th:

Shoes:  I bought these tie-up booties a long time ago and this season is the first time I’ve really fallen in love with them.   I got these from my go-to shoe place,

Outfit: Simple comfy outfit for a cloudy Thursday.  The tank top and jeans are from Target… the jeans are the curvy fit I love.   The blazer is from MODE a boutique in Roseville, MN that has some great looks that don’t break the bank.

Thursday, April 9th:

Shoes: I’m loving these classic black pump with a little bit of edge.  The a-symmetrical design on the top of the shoe add such style to the look.  These beauties are from Aldo.

Outfit: I wanted to wear pajamas to work so I did the next best thing!  Comfy pants and a sweater.  The entire outfit is from Target!!  I loved adding the purple to this look instead of your normal pop-of-color.

Friday, April 10th:

Shoes: It’s all about being pretty in pink!  These shoes are so extremely comfortable and I love the pop of color they bring to the outfit.   I bought these at DSW.

Outfit: All about pink today!  The long sweater is from Target and is a perfect spring sweater.  I love that its not too warm but keeps you warm enough.  The white t-shirt underneath is a longer t-shirt that I got from Wet Seal; with longer sweaters I like to put long t’s with them so it doesn’t cut me off.  Lastly, the pants are my pixie pants from old navy!

Also, I added a scarf after I took the picture (a hand me down from my mother-in-law) and added a pink jacket to brighten this gloomy day!!

Shoe Report: Oscar Trend Edition! (2/23/14 – 2/27/14)

I was inspired after watching all those beautiful dresses on the red carpet to start incorporating those trends into my outfits this week.  So each day you’ll see one or two trends that we’re on the red carpet.  What trends are your favorite from the 2015 Academy Awards?

Monday, February 23rd:

Did you see how beautiful Jennifer Hudson was in yellow?! Check out her  Romona Keveza dress!

Which reminded me, I have some beautiful yellow boots I never wear!! Plus, It was freezing out and I needed to add some sunshine to my outfit. These beautiful yellow faux suede boots are from

Monday Shoes

Now for what inspired my oufit! Reese Witherspoon look amazing in her Tom Ford black and white dress, it fit her perfect!

This dress was icing on the cake for me… I’ve been seeing black and white stripes all over the places but I didn’t have any a shirt or anything.  I picked up this shirt at Target and my jeans are the curvy fit also from there.  My blazer is from Primp and when they have these in stock they’re always in a variety of colors.  I just love this blazer.

Monday's Outfit

Tuesday, February 24th:

Tuesday’s outfit is inspired by the beautiful floral trend that was on the red carpet.

Floral Trend

For the shoes, I pulled out a pair I don’t wear too much.  I got these so long ago that I don’t reminder where I got them but they’re such a fun pair of pumps.  The flower on top adds a real conversation piece to the outfit.

Tuesday Shoes

The floral trend continues to my purple cardigan that I got at Target.  This is much bolder than what you saw on the red carpet but I haven’t yet embarrassed the floral look, I am trying.  I paired the top with a floral lace black skirt that I got a Kohl’s.  I really committed to the floral look for this one!

Tuesday Outfit

Wednesday, February 25th:

There were some beautiful metallic gowns Sunday night but my favorite was Laura Dern’s Alberta Ferretti gown.

87th Annual Oscars Red Carpet Arrivals

Of course when I saw this I thought, I really need to pull out my Steve Madden metallic purple boots.  I mean, didn’t everyone?  These boots I don’t bring out too often because they are so pointy that they get scuffed pretty easy.  These were originally $300 but I wanted until they were on ultra clearance and I got the for $65, which I believe is the most I’ve ever spent on shoes.

Wednesday Shoes

For the outfits, it’s all about the black and white trend for me this week.  I keep going back to it because it’s so easy to pull off. All though my favorite black and white gown was Reese Witherspoon look, a close second was Marion Cotillard’s Christian Dior gown.

I was excited to get this new jacket in the mail, I ordered it from  It took awhile to get it to me but I got this week and couldn’t wait to wear it.  I paired it with pixie pants from Old Navy.

Wednesday Outfit

Thursday, February 26th:

Pretty in pink! There was a lot more pink than normal at the Oscars and it made me want to embrace pink.  My favorite pink dress was Zoe Saldana’s Atlelier Versace dress but Gwyneth and Anna pulled the look off too.

pink trend

So for the shoes I stuck with a nude pair to keep the look simple.  These are from Target and I have to say they’re like flats to me… when it doubt these are the pair I wear.

Now for the pink.  The only light pink I own is this super comfy sweater from Kohl’s. Seeing the trend on the red carpet made me pull out a sweater that I simply don’t wear that often.  To dress the sweater up a bit I added my anchor scarf which I have no idea where or when I got this. And to finish this simple look I wore my silver jeans that I love so much!!

Thursday Outfit

Friday, February 27th:

For the last trend this week, I wanted to feature the all black.  This was a unique challenge for me cause I love adding color to my look. Cate Blanchet, Sienna Miller, and Margot Robbie looked absolutely beautiful in all black but I especially love the pop of color Cate added.

all black

For the shoes, I had to wear my favorite black pumps that have a beautiful textured heel!  I love what this heel adds to a look, so simple yet still such a statement.  These were purchased at DSW.

For the outfit, I stayed as true to all black as I could but I took a note from Cate Blanchet and added a little pop of color with my belt.  This entire outfit is brought to you by Target!
